Our History

Hi all,  hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Weekend!!!  It was a beautiful one here in Northern Maine.  I finished up a LO for a challenge at Soul Scrappers , here is my layout.....

I know the photo is hard to see in this picture, it is my Grandparents. The photo was taken around 1945, in Perham, Maine.  I have so many fond memories of spending time with them.

I made these banners and placed them in a few spots on my layout.

Just a little journal stamping on the back ground. You can also see some of the misting that was done on the back ground.

I cut these doily's using my cricut, then inked with tea dye ink.

I am playing around with my new spectrum noir markers and blender. I thought I would try them out on these cute mulberry paper flowers. I love the way these alcohol makers blend.

A close up of my finished flowers, love how they came out.

A faux stitch circle was added.

A close up of my little photo, a photo I will always cherish.

A closer look at one of the clusters.

Winter Fun

Back with another layout that was entered in a challenge at Soul Scrapper, this was for there winter theme.  Any one that knows Northern Maine, knows we have quite the winter.  BUT, this year was extremely mild.  We did have a chance to go out and play some.

My Grandson and I, on one of our outings this winter.  I am so glad that he loves the outdoor, because I am an outdoor "GAMMY"!!!!

My homemade gem in the center the snowflake.

UGH, what a job!!! I cut each piece a little different size, then glued together. I just love how it makes the alphas pop.

Just another look at the letters.

supplies:
kraft paper, MME pp, snowflake brads, twine

A closer look at my faux stitching.

I traced a circle then evenly cut sections to fold back, this was done on double sided pp.

I then placed a brad at the end of each section. Then placed my photo in the open center.

World Card Making Day #1

Hello everyone,  here is what is going on at Soul Scrappers for WCMD!!!!!!

We are celebrating World Card Making Day here at Soul in style!  I'll be posting a new challenge EACH week in September leading up to the official World Card Making Day on October 3.  You can qualify for a prize EACH week, too!!

Here is what I found about the history of this celebrated day at

World Card Making Day began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on.

Celebrating its tenth year in 2015, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community—hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers—to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making.

Interesting stuff, huh? I thought you'd like to know . I'll start posting in the Forum for each World Card Making Day event we're hosting at Soul next week. Be sure to come back and see what I have in store for you.  ;-)
Start thinking of those loved ones you'd like to honor with a handmade card!

if you would like to play along go here  and this is my week #1 card:

I saw this card at Split Coast Stampers, and just had to make.

I first made the template, for the dress and for the cutting of the side of card.

I then inked with perfect medium , embossing powder and used my heat gun to set. It is hard to see, but the glitter is beautiful.

I took some tiny roses and dipped into the perfect medium, then heat embossed some tea rose embossing powder onto the top for color.

A close up of this cute glitter belt with the roses.

I fussy cut the man's shirt and bow tie, then added some black brads.

Along the bottom (also the top), I used liquid pearls.

supplies:
card stock, liquid pearls, brads, embossing powder, perfect medium, satin roses.

Framed Card Trio

Took a break from canning, and made some lovely cards for a challenge at Soul Scrappers. If you would like to join in their monthly challenge's go here.

My Trio of Cards

The challenge was to make 3 cards with a frame, these are the cards I made for this challenge.

My first one was very simple, I added a peach ribbon in the center for a little extra.

These are the dies that where used to cut the squares.

This is my second card, just love how this one came out.

After embossing, I sanded the raise part of the card.  I used core'dination color core cardstock.

After sanding, I fussy cut around the edge. Then cut out the center to make a frame.

I put these ribbons onto the back of the flower brad then placed onto my card.

My third and last card, a little different but I like it.

I used vellum to emboss, then placed onto a blue card.  Will be doing this again, love the look of a printed vellum placed onto colored cardstock.

cardstock, vellum, brads, ribbon,

HAPPINESS IS:

What a beautiful day here in Northern Maine, during some down time I worked on a layout for Soul Scrappers. If you would like to play along on their monthly challenges go here and this is my layout!!!

This is a layout of my daughter and I quite a few years ago at a family wedding.  Just love all of the homemade embellishments that I made for this page.

I first tore the edges of my printed paper, then chalked the white torn part.

These are the items that I used to make my flowers.

I sprayed a variety of mists onto my work area, then I spray a little water to make very wet. I then  run my flowers thru the ink, until I get the color I like. I then squeeze into balls and let dry.

I very carefully unrolled each ball and put together with brads.

And here is a look at the finished flower.  I placed homemade bling under the flowers.

I found these cute glitter candy dots in my stash,, Love them!!!

And this is the beautiful butterfly I made using a thinlit die.  I then added some dew drops, liquid pearls and glitter.

supplies:
chalk, daisy d's paper, cardstock, pebbles glitter candy dots, brads, dew drops, liquid pearls (buttercup), glitter

see you soon !!!!!!!
